Saghar Khadem is a classically trained percussionist from Iran, known for her mastery of the Tombak. Born into an artistic family, she began learning Tombak at a young age under the guidance of her great-grandmother. She later studied with renowned masters Elham Farshchian and Pedram Khavarzamini, and expanded her musical practice to include other Iranian frame drums such as daf and dayereh.

She pursued formal studies at the cultural and artistic institute of Tehran Conservatory and later at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden, where she explored a broader rhythmic landscape including Oriental and Latin traditions. Her playing is characterized by sensitivity, precision, and deep respect for the roots of Persian music, while also embracing contemporary expression and cross-cultural dialogue.

Saghar is a founding member of the Atine Ensemble, a Paris-based all-female group that reimagines Persian musical heritage through a modern lens. With Atine, she recorded the album Persiennes d’Iran (2020) and performed at major international festivals such as WOMEX 21 (Portugal), Les Suds à Arles (France), and Festival Glatt&Verkehrt (Austria).
Saghar is an accomplished percussionist known for her dynamic performances with various ensembles. She has also performed in several theatrical productions under the direction of renowned artists such as Pari Saberi, Mohamad Rahmanian, and Behrooz Gharibpoor. Furthermore, Saghar frequently collaborates with diverse international artists and ensembles, making guest appearances at festivals and cultural events around the world. Her wide-ranging musical experience showcases her versatility and commitment to the art of percussion.
